Fall is one of the most beautiful seasons of the year. It's also one of the busiest! As summer slowly comes to a close, I can't help but get a jumpstart on planning for the fall. Especially as a photographer. Fall is the busiest time of year in the photography industry.
Fall booking is filled up faster than any other time of the year. Fall is a gorgeous season for family pictures! The warm, rich, bold colors of the season photograph beautifully. Fall wardrobes are some of the most comfortable, stylish and flattering! The hot, dry weather gives way to that crisp fall air we all know and love. It's the perfect season for photography. I want to help you prepare and share some of my best advice to get a head start on planning for your fall family session.
Book Your Fall Family Session EARLY
Booking your fall family session EARLY is my number piece of advice to ensure you book a session in the fall. Slots for fall family pictures go fast. The sooner you reach out to your photographer to get on their books, the better! Put down a deposit to secure your spot.
Get a Jumpstart on Planning Your Family's Wardrobe
Wardrobe is that element in your family session that can really take it to the next level. Get a head start on planning your family's wardrobe one or two months in advance. Create a Pinterest board to find inspiration if you don't know where to begin styling your family for your session. You can follow me on Pinterest to gather inspiration from sessions I've done.
Search for fall wardrobe color palettes that reflect your family's personality and style. Do you like neutrals? Bold color? Earthy tones? Or traditional fall colors? Coordinate your family's wardrobe based on a color palette you'll love! Avoid matching everyone perfectly. Add layers, textures in fabrics and accessories to add interest to the session! Give yourself plenty of time to order any new outfits or pieces so that they arrive on time to try on before your session. I'm happy to assist with styling if needed!
Book Your Beauty Appointments Early
Do you plan on getting your hair, nails or makeup done professionally before your session? Book your appointments when you book your family session. Book your hair or nail appointment a few days before your family session and avoid drastic changes that may be unhappy with in photos! Book your makeup appointment early enough that you still have time to get you and your family ready and at your session on time. Treat yourself for your session and go all out!
